They have stolen my money!
They have stolen my money!

Hertz Switzerland took my money under protest in March 2022 for the damage that existed before I had been given keys to the car and more importantly, Hertz was aware of and they confirmed in the handover 404434 document, signed by Mr B from Hertz on 22/03 - this is before the keys to the car were handed to me! I have sent 14 emails and had NO reply! There is no escalation, no way to exercise your rights - they are a scam and robbers!

Avoid these scammers at all cost!
Hertz is the worst rental service I’ve ever experienced. We prepaid and confirmed a rental for a van over the text message chat service (very poor communication) but when we arrived the office was closed and they had blocked my number from the customer support line, but could still call from a different phone so they told us the hire was no longer possible.

Absolute waste of time and services, avoid Hertz at all cost!

Hertz is a Fraudulent company STAY AWAY from them
PEOPLE DO NOT USE HERTZ SERVICES THEY ARE A FRAUDULENT COMPANY, THE STAFF ARE LAZY, PATRONISING TRYING TO SELL YOU ADD ONS AND INCOMPETENT WHICH GAVE ME STRESS, THE CSR WAS DAMAGED BEFORE I EVEN STARTED USING THE VEHICLE, ASSURED FROM THE STAFF MEMBER EVERYTHING WAS RECORDED I HAD TAKEN PICTURES AND SENT IT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM AND IT TOOK THEM 20 DAYS TO RESPOND AND STILL BLAMING ME BECAUSE I SIGNED THE AGREEMENT THATS ALL THEY ARE BASING IT ON SO NOW HAVE TO TAKE THE LEGAL ROUTE ALSO

Steer clear of these robbers.
Hired a car at B'lona airport. I already had my own insurance, so declined their extra insurance. Low and behold when I returned the car there were allegedly marks on the car that I had caused. We had the car for 48hrs and went from the airport to our accommodation and back again. Hertz deducted money from my credit card. It took me 5 emails to find out what it was for. So far, I am on email number 11. I have requested copies of my documents which they have not been willing to send me. Total rip off! Steer clear of these robbing gangsters. They taake all avenues away for you to contact them through any other means than email and then they take weeks to answer emails and the people answering the emails are clearly not first language English speakers and so miss half the content of the emails I have sent.
There is no obvious way to raise a complaint and despite stating in several of my emails that I want to raise a formal complaint, that part of the email has been conveniently ignored.

Hertz, Tromso, Norway
Booked a basic Toyota for 8 days in Tromso, Norway. Price in line with other renters in area, but no mileage restrictions. Took out additional insurance. Was upgraded to a Toyota C-HR hybrid, which turned out to be the best car I have ever driven. Staff were very helpful, polite, friendly and professional. All round a great rental. This is for Norway. Road tolls and ferry tolls billed over subsequent weeks as advised. No additional charges or handling fees. Would recommend and use again.

Dreadful!
Dreadful!
Booked a van to pick up IKEA furniture. Sent all details in and had confirmation.
On the way to IKEA received an email saying they had cancelled my reservation. When calling the customer service all they could tell me is the identity check failed.
There was no further information and no reason I could think of why my identity check would fail.

Charged £100 for cleaning!!! Beware
We rented a car for 11 days from Gatwick Airport to return to Bristol airport, we drove down to Cornwall and used it frequently for the duration of our stay.
The car itself was great but beware of the additional charges Hurtz sneak onto the final bill! We were charged £100 for cleaning when the car was returned in great (clean) condition.
They stuck us for excessive cleaning, however this should only be applied when a car is returned in dreadful condition for example extremely dirty/ dog hairs etc.
we took before and after pics because the staff are too lazy nowadays to leave their desks and fo the visual walk around with you, there was also nobody at the drop off counter, just a hand written sign saying please drop keys in box. We’ll fight to get our £100 back but this shouldn’t be the case! If they only treat customers fairly they would have had us back again and again. Your loss Hurtz

Do not use - they will take advantage of you!
This is a company that takes advantage of its customers, takes their money, and refuses to communicate with them. Our hire car suffered very minor damage which was not our fault, caused by a hailstone storm. When I returned the car, the Hertz representative at Toulouse Airport said a charge would be taken but to contact Customer Service to reclaim, as it was not our fault. He said this would not be a problem. Hertz FR then charged 342 EUR for the two small dents. I have since tried repeatedly to contact Customer Service (in FR and UK), who refuse to respond or discuss this. Do not use this awful company. Our friends' hire companies, by comparison, did not charge for the freak damage, so I would go with them instead! Avoid Hertz at all costs.

No complications
We arrived in Gatwick from Ireland on 25th June, no vehicle booked and a train strike on.! We were travelling to croydon . Decided to book a van as it was a lot cheaper than a car .
We were no disappointed. We met a gentleman called Robert who rented us a van that had just come back . The van was clean inside and out . A miser on fuel too , a vivaro ( hope I spelt that right ) Robert was pleasant , and very helpful . He showed us our options and let us choose which one we wanted . The service was fast and we would have no hesitation in called Robert in hertz again . Thanks Robert for your help .

Stranded by Hertz and AA (rental car…
Stranded by Hertz and AA (rental car repair for Hertz). Upgraded to a manual transmission Hyundai by Hertz at pick up. Clutch felt soft. They assured me that if anything happened AA would take of me. Clutch stated smoking next day at 10:00a. Called AA who refused to give us another car. AA tech showed up 2 hrs later. We were told that clutch was hot because of stop and go driving. He stated that clutch had cooled and car was still drivable, therefore we did not need another car. About 5 hrs later (5:30p), the clutch went out and the car was not drivable in a small suburb of Oxford. Called AA they said they would be there at 7:25p. Called AA at 7:30p, they said would be there at 8:15p. At that point my wife’s phone was dead and mine had 7% battery life on low power mode and cellular data turned off. We called a taxi at 8:45p to take us to 22 mi to our air bnb. AA finally called at 10:07p. They stated that they were busy and advised to wait until am and call Hertz. Contacted Hertz at 8:30a next day. After long discussion, they were not going to pick us up or bring us another car. We were told to go back to car and turn over key to AA, but we had to hurry because dealership in Oxford closed at 12:30p. Our host drove us to meet AA at 10:50a. Car was as I described. AA tech was upset that he had to take us to dealership because of traffic. Arrived at dealership at 12:00p and we were told they had no drivable cars. They told that thought Heathrow has some cars held back, but could not contact them. We were told that we would have to get ourselves to Heathrow, and they could only take us to the train or bus station in Oxford. We took a train to Paddington, then Heathrow. At Heathrow they refused to rent us a car until they confirmed recovery of the Hyundai. Waited an hour, before we got AA on our phone and had them speak to the manager. Manager said he only had more expensive hybrid and electric cars. We had to pay an extra $50/day. We then drove back to our air bnb. We missed 2 days of the Silverstone F1 race (approx $2000 thrown away). We lost our time and part of our vacation because of Hertz and AA. Beware.

I wouldn't even give it 1 star!!
I am absolutely disgusted at this company and the way in which I've been treated today. Last night I booked a van to pick up a new bed. This morning my old bed was collected and I left to pick up the van. 15 minutes before my slot was supposed to start I recieved a text message to say that the van was no longer available and that I'd be contacted shortly. 15 minutes went by and no phone call. I rang the help desk number and had to endure a 35 minute call with someone that quite frankly couldn't have given a s**t. The call consisted of being told that the van I'd originally booked which showed as available on the app had a flat battery (so why was the van shown as being available to hire). Whilst on the phone and being parked next to another of the vans I looked on the app and seen that this van was also showing as being available. I informed the phone operative about this and he then booked this van for me. Whilst he was on the phone I recieved the confirmation of the new van, and a minute later recieved another text to say that this one was also unavailable (again, why was this van shown as being available and why was I able to book it!?). The phone operator checked another local pick up point and I was informed that no vans were available until 6pm (after the shops would be shut so I wouldn't be able to pick up the new bed). After asking if there was any way that the van that we'd originally booked would be on the road at any point today, the operator told me that he'd call AA and see if he could arrange for the battery to be sorted. He told me that he would call me back either way to let me know the outcome of the phone call. That was around 11.20 this morning. Its now 18.43 and I have heard absolute NOTHING!!!! So now I not only have no bed to sleep on tonight, I have been charged 200% of the van rental costs for the TWO VANS that had been booked, the £3 membership charge and a very bad view of this horrendous company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

WARNING! Never use Hertz!
We booked and paid for our rental in full prior to pickup at Manchester airport. We were asked if we would like the top cover of insurance which we declined. They also asked if we would like an additional driver to which we said yes, at not point did they advise this was at an extra cost. It wasn’t until we were back in Australia that we were charged $1,400 which was almost the same price as what we originally paid. When we contacted Hertz we were told that the cost was for insurance, additional driver and fuel. We have been back and forth for weeks, the customer service staff are dismissive and essentially told us the customer knows what they’ve agreed to. At no point did they tell us an additional driver would cost extra. We declined the extra insurance, but they added it anyway. It’s cost was $3,000 AUD for a 2 week car hire. You’d be better off walking than using this company.

Went to pick up a car that had been…
Went to pick up a car that had been booked and paid for and they refused to accept our license. We have a Brazilian license and according to their terms and conditions, we only need a national driver's license. But according to the staff there, they only accept plastic licenses, which Brazil does not issue. So their terms and conditions should specify that they do not accept Brazilian licenses, but instead it says exactly the opposite. And they also refuse to give us a refund. We had already paid 300 euros.
